The word Ayurveda comes from the Sanskrit Ayu, meaning Knowledge, and Veda, meaning Life. It is known as The Science of Life.

Ayurvedic wisdom says that everything is made of the elements of air, space, fire, water, and earth. Though each individual is a combination of all five elements, it is the ratio of these elements that determines an individual’s unique wellness needs. We are all mini-Universes. Yoga teachers have a special role in holding space for others. It is critical that teachers are able to discern their own authentic level of energy and learn practices that support enhancing and balancing their prana.

This 20 hour training will cover three areas including:
Ayurveda Overview: the history of Ayurveda, exploration of the following topics: 5 elements, gunas, prakrti and vikrti, 3 pillars of health, 3 causes of disease, doshas, and the relationship between yoga and Ayurveda;
Ayurvedic Self-Care Practices: how to use pranayama, nutrition, and dinacharya to cultivate balance, increase prana; and
How to teach from an Ayurvedic perspective: guidance on developing and integrating ayurvedic principles into yoga classes and poses to support balancing doshas.

Course content will be taught through the understanding of Ayurveda as a living knowledge. During our time together, we will honor our unique, ever changing needs for balance.

During this immersion, you will have an opportunity to deepen your yoga practice and knowledge of ancient wisdom of ayurveda in a supportive, learning community. Over the three week period you will have an opportunity to practice integrating the learnings, ask questions and reflect on the relationship between yoga and Ayurveda.
